1st year General Assembly Meeting

The meeting was held at University of Gdansk, the meeting included presentations of each work package and a dedicated work session for general discussion about DBPs and analytics. A presentation about the clustering activities to be performed within the ZeroPolution4water cluster was also included.

Science exhibition centre

The University of Coimbra researchers participated in the “Water – an Unfiltered exhibition” and showcased the development of their H2OforAll project. The exhibition aimed to raise awareness about the basic right to drinking water, using science, technology, and the collective commitment of all of us. It invited visitors to explore various aspects of the availability and use of this vital resource in a positive and engaging way. This exhibition was held as part of the International Decade for Action on Water for Sustainable Development and is aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6, which aims to ensure water and sanitation for all by 2030. Visitors were able to witness how the innovative technologies developed through the H2OforAll project will help prevent, monitor, and decontaminate drinking water, ensuring the highest quality for our consumption.

Water knowledge Europe

WKE is a Horizon Europe brokerage event hosted by Water Europe. The event serves as a dynamic platform to translate visionary ideas into tangible actions. It is here that policies are shaped, ground-breaking projects are implemented, and transformative change takes root in the water sector. WKE 2023 fosters the formation of international partnerships, advances collaborative project development, and offers a platform for leading networking, knowledge exchange, and increased visibility.

The ZP4Water Cluster and its seven EU-funded projects were presented, including H2OforAll. This initiative originated from the coalition of seven different projects funded from the calls for proposals HORIZON-CL6-2022- ZEROPOLLUTION-01-01 and 01-04, revolves around two main themes: preventing groundwater contamination and protecting its quality against harmful impacts of global and climate change and securing drinking water quality by protecting water sources against pollution, providing innovative monitoring and treatment solutions, and ensuring safe distribution.

Rui Martins, the H2OforAll project coordinator from the University of Coimbra gave an overview of the project at the session “Contribution to implementation of EU Legislation and Research & Innovation for a pollution- free future”.

European Researchers’ Night

The H2OforAll team presented the project at the European Researchers’ Night. The European Researchers’ Night is a science communication event that takes place every year in various European cities, with the aim of raising awareness and involving the population in science, bringing researchers and civil society closer together. Participants had the chance to interact with researchers from different  scientific  fields  (health, culture, security, digital, space, energy, climate and food).

The programme included practical activities, experiments and demonstrations, where scientists showcased their projects and where the public had the opportunity to connect with more than 600 researchers from 30 UC Research and Development units, museums and science centres.

Chempor Conference

The University of Coimbra team recently presented their H2OforAll development at the CHEMPOR conference. They showcased their silica-based cryogels, specifically designed for the adsorption of DBPs in water. The CHEMPOR conference is a major triennial event in the fields of chemical and biological engineering. It provides a platform for experts to gather and share insights, scientific advancements, and technological applications across academia, industry, and the scientific community.

Water Innovation Europe

The project coordinator, Professor Rui Martins presented H2OforAll at Water Innovation Europe event. The event was organized by Water Europe in the context of the Water Innovation Europe 2023 conference ”EU Water Policy: What’s Next?” held on June 21-22 in Brussels.

2nd consortium meeting

It was time to summarize what was done in the first six months of the project and talk about next steps.
The meeting agenda included a presentation of each WP with the participation of Advisory Board Members.

University of Coimbra Open Week

During the event, participants had a great time spending it in various spaces of the university and had the opportunity to join conversations with former and current students, professors and community of the University of Coimbra. They also attended an exhibition with research projects (where H2OforAll was included) and partner companies.

Water conference – water & health: going beyond the wash approach?

The new European drinking water legislation opens a new era by guaranteeing to citizens access to drinking water and information related to its quality.

H2OforAll was represented by Luisa Rocha Durães, Prof., Head of Department, University of Coimbra, Technical coordinator of H2Oforall EU funded project. She talked about the project goals, tasks and expected outcomes.

kick-off meeting of THE ZEROPOLLUTION4WATER CLUSTER

The ZeroPollution4Water cluster is a new-born initiative that originated from the union of seven different projects. These projects revolve around two main themes:

– Preventing groundwater contamination and protecting its quality against harmful impacts of global and climate change
– Securing drinking water quality by protecting water sources against pollution, providing innovative monitoring and treatment solutions, and ensuring safe distribution.

H2OforAll is one of the “sister founding” projects within the Cluster.
